Robin Sommer

Dr. Robin Sommer is a staff researcher at the International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley, and he is also a member of the Data Science and Technology Department at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His research focus is network security monitoring in operational high-performance settings, and he is one of the core developers of the opensource Bro network intrusion detection system. Dr. Sommer received a Ph.D. from the Technical University of Munich in Germany, and post-doc fellowships from the German Academic Exchange Service as well as from the DHS-funded Institute for Infrastructure Protection. He has participated in program committees for conferences and workshops, and he chaired the 2007 “Conference on the Detection of Intrusions & Malware, and Vulnerability Assessment”.
