Biographical Sketch

Max received his Ph.D. (2020) and M.Sc. (2018) from the Oden Institute at the University of Texas at Austin. He completed Part III of the Mathematical Tripos at the University of Cambridge in 2015, and completed a double major in Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin in 2014.

Max’s research interests broadly relate to scientific computing in a post-Moore’s law era. Specifically, he is focused on improving scalability of adaptive state-driven computation using optimistic (Timewarp-based) parallel discrete event simulation. He is also interested in novel software/hardware co-design processes that will tighten the design loop between mathematicians and hardware engineers to facilitate faster and more effective exploration of the design space.

Current Projects

  • Project 38: A set of vendor-agnostic architectural explorations involving NSA, the DOE Office of Science, and NNSA
  • PARADISE++: Large Scale Optimistic Synchronization based simulation of Post Moore Systems (ARO Project)
