Osni Marques is a Staff Scientist in the Applied Mathematics and Computational Research Division of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He has worked on various aspects of high-end scientific computing, including eigenvalue solvers for applications in engineering, biochemistry, earth sciences and electronic structure calculations; and algorithms for dense linear algebra calculations (eigenvalue problems and SVD) in the LAPACK and ScaLAPACK libraries. Currently, he has been working on improving the performance of specific components of an algebraic multigrid solver (in collaboration with LLNL), and the Alquimia biogeochemistry software (developed at LBNL). He has served on the programming committees of a number of scientific conferences, provided referee services to various DOE and NSF programs, and provided (as an IPA and detailee) expertise for DOE's Advanced Scientific Computing Research (ASCR) Program. Osni earned his Ph.D. in structural engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
