Exabiome project is developing exascale computing tools to solve previously infeasible science problems in genomic analysis. Key components of this research include (i) metagenome assembly at extreme scales to find specifies and genes in microbial communities, (ii) development of protein clustering and annotation to improve our understanding of the microbial tree of life and identifying gene function, and (iii) comparative metagenome analysis to track microbiome communities over time, space, or changes in the environment.
