Title:
Graph Data Management for Biology - An Introduction
Abstract:
In this talk we will discuss topics in graph data management for biology - primarily molecular biology. We begin with some examples graph data in molecular biology, e.g., protein interaction networks, metabolic pathways, signaling pathways, gene regulatory networks. We then discuss the rationale for comparative analyses of such networks. We will then cover some of the graph queries needed to do comparative biology on networks - e.g., various forms of subgraph matching queries. We also discuss other relevant graph queries, and briefly describe some query processing algorithms and query optimization techniques.
