Title:
Visualization for Network Security
Abstract:
More than a year ago, I and my students began to study how visualization can assist in the monitoring and analysis of computer network security. We have looked at both TCP port data and BGP routing data, and developed visualization strategies to help uncover interesting security events from these data. We are currently investigating how to couple visualization, statistical methods, machine learning, and other automated methods to solve more sophisticated network security problems. In this talk, I will share with you our experience and findings. If time would permit, I will also touch on some of the basic research problems in information visualization, show our results, and discuss their relevance to the more challenging intelligent information analysis problem.
