Title:

Introduction to the Itanium 2

Abstract:

This talk will introduce the Itanium architecture and talk specifically about the Itanium 2 chip. We will examine the IA-64 ISA, the first (Itanium 1) implementation, and the second (Itanium 2) implementation, and their similarities and differences. Further, the talk will explore possible future speedups possible through the ISA. Lastly, the talk will examine several important considerations when optimizing code for the IA-64 ISA and the Itanium 2 chip in particular.
