Title:
Application of Hierarchical Clustering Techniques in Visualization
Abstract:
Clustering is a classical data analysis technique that has been explored thoroughly in a broad range of disciplines. Over the last ten years it has been increasingly applied in computer graphics and scientific visualization. In these research fields, it has been used to address a variety of different problems, including space partitioning to accelerate rendering, surface extraction, mesh simplification, and multiresolution analysis of scalar and vector fields. In this talk a survey of the application of hierarchical clustering techniques in the field of visualization is presented.
